Your Partners in Your Child's Oral Health!

At Canyon Dental Centre, we believe that creating a positive experience at the dentist early in life is extremely important to their long-term oral health. As parents ourselves, we understand the unique fears and concerns that children sometimes have. With our family friendly atmosphere and smiling staff members, we are here to ensure that every child’s visit to the dentist is a happy one. Our goal is to make sure your child is extremely comfortable in a professional dental setting, while also setting the educational foundation that they will draw from for the rest of their life.

Early Dental Visits Equal a Lifetime of Dental Health and Wellness!

One misconception is that since young children lose their primary teeth, the condition of those teeth is not overly important. This could not be further from the truth! Primary teeth are vital for biting and chewing foods, they also help in forming words, gaining physical confidence, and setting the foundation for the developing adult teeth that will come in. Our dental hygienists will teach your child the fundamentals of brushing and flossing, while also ensuring that everything is in line for the permanent teeth to come in.

Introducing Canyon Dentals Little Smiles Program

Introducing kids to the dentist and the importance of oral health early and in a positive way will help eliminate or reduce the anxiety that could be carried into adulthood. Every 6 months, Canyon Dental hosts a free ‘Little Smiles’ event at the clinic. This event is designed to introduce (or re-introduce) children to the dentist in a fun atmosphere setting the stage for success later in life. Children will receive a free visual exam (Xrays not included) and be shown the ‘tools’ and ‘gadgets’ of the dental world. There will be a variety of fun activities including balloon animals, face painting, activities and much more.

When Should I Bring My Child to The Dentist for the First Time?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends a dental examination within 6 months of the eruption of a child’s first tooth, or by the age of one, whichever comes first. It is important to see them early and to review important aspects of dental care and diet.
